New hardware

January 7th, 2009 Peter van Arkel No comments

A while ago, I registered the domain oldones.net, so that I could give my personal servers (placed in a 24U rack @ my parents’ place) a nice name. My only private server at that moment (veritas, as it’s was then) replaced by other hardware and was also renamed to fit the oldones.net naming scheme. With that, Hastur(.oldones.net) was called into life. This server serves as my hopserver, irc-server and houses a svn-repository which contains writing-stuff and roleplaying-stuff. At the moment the server also functions a test-server for my scripting attempts and it’s attached to 500 gigabyte of redundant storage, used for backups.
Few weeks ago, I added another server to the rack, as well as a UPS which serves power to the switch, the redundant storage and the two servers in the rack. The new addition is called Lloigor (unfortunately, there’s only one IP available, so only Hastur is reachable for the whole world directly. I hope the ISP is kind enough to give me some more :) ), and he will be responsible for being my sandbox, so Hastur won’t be screwed up if I make a mistake.

Hastur & Lloigor have the following hardware:

Hastur
2U PowerEdge 2650
2x 1 Ghz Pentium 3
4x 512 MB DDR2
4x 18 GB Hotswap SCSI (2x RAID1 array)
redundant PSU

Lloigor
1U PowerEdge 1550
2x 1,2 Ghz Pentium 3
4x 512 MB DDR2
3x 35 GB Hotswap SCSI (1x RAID5 array)
